US Embassy calls for proposals on HIV
THE US Embassy is pleased to announce that it is currently accepting proposals for funding through the 2010 Ambassador’s HIV Prevention Programme.
The ambassador’s programme is part of the larger President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the largest effort by any nation to combat a single disease, which was launched in 2003 by President George Bush. PEPFAR, and by extension, the ambassador’s Programme, focuses on prevention, care, and treatment programs for HIV/AIDS.
Programme or project proposals for the ambassador’s programme should focus on community-based activities to increase awareness of and combat HIV/AIDS, and should encourage communities to cooperate in fighting the epidemic.
This can include activities that reduce stigmas and discrimination, enlist involvement of persons living with HIV/AIDS, or provide education and outreach to most at-risk populations.
Grants are awarded in amounts of US$10,000 to $20,000 and proposals can be submitted by community-based organisations, local registered non-governmental organisations, faith-based organisations, clubs and service organisations, individuals, or the host government.
Interested persons should contact the US Embassy at KingstonAmbHIVPP@state.gov to request a proposal application or additional information. The deadline for proposals is 4:00 pm on Thursday, September 30, 2010.
