Ity & Fancy Cat hit New York for one night only
Comedy duo Ity & Fancy Cat will grace the New York stage at the George W. Wingate Campus in Brooklyn next Sunday, October 10. The duo will be joined by Susan Kennedy from Trinidad & Tobago and a host of other friends, including Reggae singer and producer Dobby Dobson, nicknamed ‘The Loving Pauper’ after one of his best known songs.
Owen ‘Blakka’ Ellis, who brought the curtains down on his comedic career in New York last summer, will serve as host.
Ity & Fancy Cat has enjoyed tremendous success, wooing Jamaican & Caribbean audiences locally and internationally for over a decade. The duo which hails from one of Jamaica’s innercity communities, Trench Town, made the obvious choice of a pathway to happiness through laughter, rather than embrace the culture of violence which pervaded their environment.
After dabbling with deejaying, the pair realized that their penchant for the funny stuff was more their calling. They first came to public notice in Courts Furniture advertising campaign, and continued over the years, to hone their craft with numerous corporate and other engagements such as the Caribbean leg of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Outrageously hilarious and courageously irreverent, they are unquestionably the hottest comedy act currently operating out of the Caribbean. The duo is said to be working their way to becoming the absolutely must-have item on any stand-up comedy show of repute anywhere in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
According to producers, WB Radio & VEP Production, “We are committed to providing wholesome family entertainment and this event affords us such an opportunity. Patrons will be able to enjoy an evening of unlimited laughter from some of the top Caribbean comedians as well as music from one of reggae’s great.”
