Businesswoman extraordinaire
Dear Editor,
The passing of businesswoman, Mrs Eulalee Holness (Miss Eulie, Sulie), has left a huge chasm in the South St Elizabeth community of Junction and its environs where she contributed so much and enriched so many lives. She was a woman with astute business acumen and endowed with an entrepreneurial spirit which served as a constant reminder that hard work and commitment are still the hallmarks upon which success is built.
Mrs Holness embraced the community and the community reciprocated. What a union it was! She became the Mother Teresa of Junction helping so many, whether through gainful employment or financial support. Her largesse was well known. Her love for her family was evident and the interest she took in the well-being and success of her children and grandchildren was most striking.
It is stalwarts like Miss Eulie that make this beloved country of ours a place to be proud of and the values which they embraced make it worth fighting for. Her contribution has made such a difference in so many lives and I believe she will be chronicled as one of Jamaica’s unsung heroes.
I salute you, Miss Eulie, businesswoman extraordinaire. I am honoured to have been a recipient of your generosity, friendship and counsel. For those to whom she has left the mantle, I leave you with this Irish blessing: “May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields.” Keep her legacies shining bright, everyone.
