Do background checks on workers
Dear Editor,
I read with consternation the story, “Father’s tears saved daughter from prison”. It was a most painful thing for that father to have cried in court for his daughter. As a parent, I can just imagine the disappointment that man felt.
The young lady was working at a bank. I am aware that banks have special loan facilities for its workers. As a worker, she could have accessed such. She also knew she had school fees to pay so she should have made prior arrangements.
All this leads me to think of “white collar” crimes which have been committed in many of our institutions. I therefore urge that criminal background checks be done for all workers and they should be kept current.
When we know that this information can be had, then corruption will lessen in many of our institutions.
