‘King’ Summerbell, Gore set for Dover showdown
DOVER, St Ann — David ‘King’ Summerbell Jr drove the fastest time yesterday setting up the challenge with Doug Gore as the ‘Heroes of Speed’ meet gets cracking at the Dover Raceway at 9:00 this morning.
Doug Gore, who had mechanical problems in the Emancipation meet, set a fast time in the Thunder sport getting around the track in one minute 19.87 seconds in his Mitsubishi Evolution, but later on David Summerbell Jr in the MP3 class made one minute 19.48 seconds in his Mitsubishi Evolution.
Other fast times for the day are Charles Chen in the IP27 (one minute 27.7 seconds) driving a Mitsubishi Evolution; IP37 – Ray Donaldson driving a Mitsubishi Evolution (one minute 37 seconds); Don Thompson in the IP45 Sport Introduction driving a Subaru FBI (one minute 47.1 seconds); Dwayne Gayle in his Honda Integra clocked one minute 45 seconds in the IP45 Naturally as Andrae Anderson in his Mitsubishi Mivec stopped the clock at one minute and 25 seconds. Kyle Greg in his Honda Civic did one minute 29 seconds and one minute 33.78 seconds in the MPI and IP33, respectively.
There will be three motorcycle races, but the fastest qualifier is Adrian Blake in one minute 29.323 seconds.
Hilary Jardane, race director, said: “We expect a large contingent of competitors and spectators for this final meet for 2010. We will be honouring Alfred Chen by naming one of the two Thunder sport races in his honour.”
This meet will also be a warm-up for the final Caribbean leg in Guyana next month.
