10 wanted for Portmore crimes
POLICE yesterday released the names of 10 men who they want for questioning in relation to a series of shootings and other criminal activities in the St Catherine South Police Division where two persons have been gunned down in the last 48 hours.
At the top of the list is a man known as ‘Cuz’. He is wanted in connection with the murder of a man known only as ‘Blackie Bud’ of a Sand Hill address in Hellshire who was shot and killed Monday.
The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported that shortly after 8:00 pm, armed men invaded a house on Canary Way in Hellshire Park and opened fire on the man and four teens, aged 18, 17, 15 and 13.
The five were rushed to hospital where ‘Blackie Bud’ was pronounced dead.
Cops yesterday described the shooting as a reprisal for the murder of Romaine Emmanuel, 20, a resident of Basalt Drive in Hellshire Glades. Emmanuel was attacked by a group of gunmen early Monday while on his way from a wake with a group of friends in Hellshire Park.
The incidents in Portmore, the police said, were the latest in a series of gang attacks across the island that have triggered a spike in murders. Statistics show that close to 30 persons were killed across the island last week alone, coming from last month’s 78, the lowest for any one-month period in the last eight years.
In addition to ‘Cuz’, the men of interest — who police say are members of the Rasta City and Wedderburn Gangs, which are now locked in an ongoing conflict — are:
* Andre Thomas alias “Oochi Kong” of the Rasta City Gang
* Elrado Rochester of the Rasta City Gang
* Oshane McLean of the Rasta City Gang
* Marvin Bingham alias “Kimar” of the Rasta City Gang
* Theophilus Pennicooke of the Rasta City Gang
* Odaro Wedderburn alias “Thick Man” of the Wedderburn Gang
* Sadio Coombs alias “Dolly Man” and “Puray” of the Wedderburn Gang
* Germain Strawn alias “Bones” and “Pree Dem” of the Wedderburn Gang
* Odane Pike alias “Criminal” of the Wedderburn Gang
The men are to turn themselves in to the Portmore police headquarters popularly known as the 100-man station, by 9:00 am today.
