Flexxing with TOK
WHEN you place four talented individuals together, you get one splendid harmony. TEENage sat down with 10-year veterans TOK to learn a bit more about the talented team. Initially called ‘Touch of Klass’, the group underwent a number of name changes before finally dubbing themselves TOK.
The group has been touring the US, Europe and Japan to promote their album, Our World. The group admits that the active lifestyle is often time consuming and so when asked how they manage their time, the guys told TEENage that their family was aware this would be the case so they are understanding. They still try to make use of the little time they have with family, but as Craigy T puts it, “love can’t put food on the table”.
When not working, Flexx and Craigy T like to have their quiet time, where they can free their minds. Craigy T, however, considers himself free-spirited and doesn’t spend much time on one activity. Bay-C prefers to spend his time bonding with nature through relaxation by the river, where he meditates and listens to his music. Alex is known as the movie junkie and also prefers to spend time playing video games, playing football, or reading.
These dedicated men seek their inspiration from the different music that they all appreciate. They aim for fusion music, hence the name ‘Touch of Klass’. They have also formed three recording labels: Bomb Rush Records owned by Bay-C, Xplosive Productions by Flexx and as a group, XCAR Records.
Currently, they are working on their upcoming album Forever and hope that in the future they can have number one hits on the Billboard charts. They also hope to get involved in movies, start their families and expand on their charity initiative called Guardian Angel Foundation, which works with hypertension victims.
The group expressed that for upcoming artistes: “Making it as an artiste is not the hard part; maintenance is, because people will always try and fight you out.”
