Leanora Golding delighted in making people happy
THE positive impact Leanora Adassa Golding had on those with whom she interacted with during her time on earth was evident from the reaction of the many mourners who turned out at the Philadelphia Assembly at East Avenue in St Andrew last Saturday to say their final farewells.
Golding passed away on October 3. She was 95 years old.
She was remembered as a devoted mother by her daughter Gloria Golding who delievered the remembrance.
“She was thoughtful, unselfish and very generous. It was her delight to make people happy. She was a dedicated, devoted mother who worked trielessly for the advancement and well-being of her children,” Golding said.
Leanora Golding was born on October 15, 1914 at Paul Mountain in St Catherine to parents Christiana Ellis and Samuel Nembhard.
She was raised by her grandmother Emily Brown, as her mother passed away when she was only three years old.
In August 1936, at the age of 22, Golding exchanged nuptial vows with Stanley Golding. The union produced 10 children. Two of her offspring Annie and Roy, predeceased her.
Leanora Golding was also remembered for her culinary skills which drew people to her home in droves.
“I suppose the aroma of her delicious puddings and pies drew our friends and neighbours from all around. Nobody could resist. As a matter of fact, every Sunday our home was filled with a constant stream of folks visiting just for her cooking. Our home was always open, everyone was welcome,” Gloria Golding said.
The remains of Leanora Golding were interred at the Dovecot Burial Park in St Catherine.
