Players assemble for short camp ahead of Sri Lanka tour
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) — West Indies have assembled here for a preparation camp ahead of the tour of Sri Lanka and are expected to launch their training in earnest today.
The squad, led by new captain Darren Sammy, will spend the next week going through their paces at the 3Ws Oval under the guidance of head coach Ottis Gibson and his deputy David Williams.
This follows the WICB One-Day Championship which finished in Jamaica last Sunday, with Barbados and Leeward Islands sharing the title in a tied final.
Fitness testing will be conducted on Thursday and Friday to assess the condition of players before net sessions and fielding drills begin
on Saturday.
Following the conclusion of the camp, the players will depart in two batches on November 4 and 5.
In Sri Lanka, West Indies will play three Tests, five One-Day Internationals and a solitary Twenty20 International.
