Excelsior High school gets a new block
LAST Wednesday, the students of Excelsior High School received an upgrade of their school’s infrastructure, from the collaborative efforts of the NCB Foundation, the school’s alumni and the Ministry of Education.
The project, which began in 2006, entailed constructing a two storey classroom building to provide students with the opportunity to learn in a practical and safe environment.
It involved the construction of a two-storey classroom building on the school’s compound. The new building comprises a multimedia room, computer lab and several additional classrooms. The building will also be used to accommodate members of the adjoining communities — Mountain View, Vineyard Town, Rollington Town, Rockfort and Franklyn Town — as a homework and resource centre.
Michael Lee Chin, chairman NCB Jamaica Limited challenged the students to work to be among the greatest.
“I charge you to be great and not limit yourself. Teach yourselves how to be great and not limit yourselves to your current location. Each day, we all have the opportunity to make history, so make your mark today,” he said.
Lee Chin encouraged the students not to abuse their blessings but, to set high standards, work hard and do well to achieve greatness and also to give back to their communities and have fun while doing it.
He also charged the students to care their new facility.
The NCB Foundation assisted the school by donating $2.5 million towards the school’s building project.
