Milk River look to rally in Clarendon KO
MILK RIVER, Clarendon — Major League top side Milk River United will have to overturn a one-goal deficit against Rock River FC at Rest Primary today if they are to advance to the second-round of the Claro/Clarendon FA Knock-out competition.
Milk River, who let last season’s Captain’s Bakery Major League title slip from their grasp in the final three matches, suffered a 0-1 defeat away to Rock River in their first-leg meeting at Turners Oval last week, but will be eager to atone with a commanding victory at home.
Rock River — who finished one place behind (third) Milk River in the Major League — will, however, be aiming to equal the record of matches won between the two sides, but will no doubt settle for a draw, a good enough result to see them through to the next round.
In another match, Gimme-Me-Bit and Comfort look to break the deadlock in their return-leg clash at the Gimme-Me-Bit playing field following a goalless first-leg meeting.
Kick-off time for both games is 3:00 pm.
Meanwhile, Sporting Athletic and York Town FC secured second-round spots with contrasting second-leg first-round victories over Cross United and Original Hazard, respectively, in Saturday’s double-header at Cross.
Sporting, courtesy of first-half strikes from Raheem Richards and Devroy Rhomel, defeated Cross 2-1 in the early kick-off, while York Town eliminated Original Hazard 5-4 on penalties.
