Priceless Beauty to highlight today’s meet
Priceless Beauty, unbeaten in her last two starts, faces a tough task as she competes against a formidable field of 14 starters in a $786,000 Overnight Allowance event at Caymanas Park today. First post at 12:10 pm.
The Overnight Allowance race for three-year-olds and upward over 1,400 metres has a probable post time of 4:35 pm. The ninth race on the 10-race card, it will anchor the programme that is without a sponsored race.
Priceless Beauty, a Canadian-bred daughter of Kafwain out of Pretoria (Great Gladiator) will be returning to a sprint distance after she turned in two almost effortless wins to date, including a smart three-parts of a length tally as the 1-9 favourite over 1,820 metres on November 20.
Today she appears to have a little more by way of competition in a field that includes She’s Smokin, who finished ahead of her when they last met, and the imported American filly Thebandisloose.
This one is yet to open her winning account, but She’s Smokin has already won four races from 10 starts and had Priceless Beauty behind her in third by one length when deadheating with Herroyalhighness over 1,300 metres on November 6.
Owned by Houston Stables, the Canadian filly is trained by Morris Powell and from the evidence at exercise, she seems to have recovered from a leg injury she sustained during the running of her last race which almost cost her second win. Omar Walker, who has scored his fourth consecutive jockeys Championship title and who was aboard to nurse Priceless Beauty home when she began to show signs of obvious discomfort on last, will again ride.
Priceless Beauty has ran twice since she was last defeated and came away with victories. She’s Smokin ran once and went down by half-a-length over 1,300 metres after returning a faster time than when she deadheated.
Owned Hamark Farms, She’s Smokin continues to look progressive at exercise, and with the weight allotment remaining much the same as when they last met, She’s Smokin ridden by Dick Cardenas for trainer Philip Feanny, showing considerable improvement both in running and on the exercise track, this could go down to the final stride to the wire.
