LONDON, England (CMC) — Trinidadian striker Jason Scotland scored twice as League Championship side Ipswich Town beat Leicester City 3-0 in atrocious snowy conditions, on a day when blizzards wrecked fixtures across the country.

The 31-year-old was on target within the space of 12 minutes during the first half at Portman Road, to engineer a victory that broke a six-game losing streak and eased mounting pressure on manager Roy Keane’s job.

However, the fixture in East England was just one of few that were played across the four tiers of English football as treacherous artic conditions forced the postponement of all but two Premiership games, allowed just one in League One and wiped out all in League Two.

At the Ricoh Arena in the West Midlands, resurgent Reggae Boyz striker Marlon King scored his second goal for Coventry City but could not prevent their 2-1 loss to Norwich City.

Following a goalless first half where the hosts were reduced to 10 men, Grant Holt netted the first of his double in the 64th minute when he nodded in Russell Martin’s cross.

King, who recently spent nine months in jail for sexual assault, then eluded his marker to beat goalkeeper John Ruddy with a clinical finish but Holt’s second three minutes from time killed off Coventry’s hopes of at least a point.
