More clean-up of Kingston necessary
Dear Editor,
The matter of wreckers hooking up vehicles from unmarked locations seems to be a thriving business, particularly downtown, while some illegally parked vehicles are left in place.
On Saturday December 11, 2010, I parked my vehicle on East Queen Street near Mother’s and was just in time to see a wrecker about to hook it up.
If the area was painted yellow or there was proper signage to indicate “No Parking”, then I could not complain if it was taken. Added to this, however, is the fact that “parking” areas, which one would assume were designated for customers of the businesses along this stretch, have all been taken by buses going to St Thomas.
There is too much collusion, corruption or collaboration taking place throughout the city as it relates to utilising legitimate parking areas. Drivers have to contend with those who will allow you to park if you will pay them or allow them to wash your vehicle.
The mayor said that he is cleaning up the city and I hope that he does. However, Mr Mayor, please extend your reach beyond billboards and derelict buildings. The process must include those scammers operating in the parking or no-parking trade.
