Students urged to enter anti-doping poster competition
AS part of efforts to reduce or otherwise prevent doping among local athletes, the Jamaica Anti-doping Commission (JADCO) has opened a national poster competition to students of secondary schools.
“The objective of the competition is to engender active participation in the fight against doping in sports by young athletes and students alike,” the commission said. “By participating in anti-doping activities, students and young athletes will develop an appreciation for the anti-doping effort. This will create sustainable awareness and ultimately a doping-free consciousness.”
The competition, which closes on January 31 next year, is being held under the theme: “The new frontier” in the fight against doping in sports.
Students interested in participating in the competition are required to submit posters that reflect JADCO’s mission and theme “the new frontier”. Each school can enter up to two posters, with the top three posters receiving an award at the end of the competition.
The winning design will be featured as JADCO’s official campaign poster for 2011 while both the winning students and their schools will receive prizes.
