WWW pets
THERE’S no end to the resources available for your pet on the web, with pet parents able to get information on everything from choosing the right pet, to what not to feed a pet.
This information makes it easier to do what it takes to keep pets happy, as pet owners hear from others with similar pets, the hows and whys and the what-not-to-dos in pet parenting.
Here are a few resources we came up with through searching, that we’ve found helpful.
1. Guinea pig care: www.rodentswithattitude.co.uk
This site has everything for guinea pig parents — from what to feed, to the necessity of having more than one pig to keep the pets happy. It has a guide for first time owners, a guide to proper housing and feeding suggestions, among other things. It’s always good, whether you own a guinea pig or are considering getting one, to do some research as piggies demand special care.
2. Exotic pets: exoticpets.about.com
Many persons get drawn into the idea of owning an exotic pet, without doing proper research on the pet’s needs. And then they end up with a pet that’s unhappy, or unsafe, and one that doesn’t fulfil its ultimate companion role. This website gives advice on pets — everything from rodents to spiders to snakes and frogs — including what they eat, where they should live and what behaviour is normal from them.
3. Dog diseases: www.dogdisease.info
Dog owners are usually quite keen on general care, but not all is known about the various things that can go wrong with man’s best friend. This site provides information on various breeds and what to expect from them, as well as puppy care, dog training, and of course, a plethora of information on all the diseases that can affect your dog.
4. Cruelty prevention: www.jspca.info
The local Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals (JSPCA) has on its website various resources for pet owners. It of course provides information on taking care of animals, and the adoption services offered by the facility, and also pet care tips for owners of new puppies.
5. Cat care: www.bscat.com
You may think you know all there is to know about cats, but this website goes into details about our furry friends and their development. It provides information on the best nutrition for cats, bath time, mental health and what developmental milestones to expect from your kitten.
6. All about pets: www.petwebsite.com
This site has information about all your pets in one spot. From rabbits to gerbils and rats to horses, get information on proper care, pet habits, and there’s also a forum where pet lovers can share pictures and videos as well as have general chats about pets.
7. Pet videos: pettube.com
When you’re ready to take a break with your pet and watch some video, Pet Tube is the right place to go. There you’ll get funny videos of various pets in the most incredible situations — it’s YouTube for your furry friend.
8. Pet discussions: forums.petlovers.com
Now and then pet owners may want to share details with others about the marvellous things Fido is doing, as well as get others’ opinions about a pet issue. This forum allows members to mingle with other animal lovers and discuss everything from surgery to how to help pets deal with the heat.
