Seven advance in Claro/INSPORTS League
COCKBURN Lane FC, along with Action Pack, Woodford Park Strikers, Owa Banks United, Dunrobin Strikers FC and African Garden are the first seven teams to have qualified for the round of 16 of the Claro/INSPORTS All-Island Community Football Championship.
These teams are from the parishes of Kingston and St Andrew, with approximately two rounds remaining in the preliminary rounds.
From the parish of Kingston are Cockburn Lane FC with 12 points from four wins and Action Pack with 10 points from four games, three wins and a draw from Zone 2; Woodford Park Strikers with 10 points from four games, including three wins and a draw from Zone 5, and Owa Banks United with 10 points from four games, three wins and a draw from Zone 6.
The teams from of St Andrew are Dunrobin Strikers with 12 points from four straight wins and African Garden with nine points — three wins and a loss.
Competition in Kingston and St Andrew continues this afternoon with 31 matches slated for Barbican playing field, Bell Chung Stadium, Camperdown Oval, Dunrobin Oval, EXED Community College, National Heroes Circle, Queensborough, Selassie Gardens, St Andrew Technical, Tinson Pen, Varma and UWI Bowl.
Some of the venues will be hosting three games, starting at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, while the others will host double-headers starting at 1:00 and 3:00 pm, respectively.
