The Oscar curse: Best actress winners have a 63% chance of divorcing

Hollywood stars have long talked about an ‘Oscar curse’, but now researchers have proved it really does exist. A study of all the Best Actress winners has revealed that they were more likely to end up divorced than others who had been nominated but failed to win a gold statuette. Researchers at the University of Toronto in Canada found that female winners of the top acting award have a 63 per cent chance of having a shorter marriage than non-winners. British star Kate Winslet, Sandra Bullock and Hilary Swank are all among the most recent winners who saw their careers hit new heights but their personal lives go in the opposite direction. A year after winning the Best Actress award playing a concentration camp guard in The Reader in 2009, Winslet’s marriage to director Sam Mendes ended. It was the same story for last year’s winner Bullock and Swank who won Best Actress for Million Dollar Baby in 2005. The in-depth study of the ‘Oscar curse’ found that of the 265 married women who have been nominated for Best Actress from the beginning of the modern Oscars in 1936 to the present, 159 of them got divorced — a staggering 60 per cent.

Matthew McConaughey takes toddlers for a spin in twin buggy

Proud papa Matthew McConaughey took a seaside stroll with some very precious cargo in tow. Dressed in a patriotic red, white and blue tracksuit top, the American movie star headed out for a jog Sunday morning at Zuma beach in Malibu, California. Matthew, 41, pushed his two children Levi, aged two, and one-year-old Vida along as they relaxed in a double buggy. The Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past actor is known for showing off his buff body, but he kept it covered to protect against the early morning’s chilly temperatures. There was no sign of Levi and Vida’s mother Camila Alves, Matthew’s partner of four years, who just celebrated her 29th birthday last month. But the trio seemed content to have some quality father-children time alone at the beach.

Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy ‘smuggled out of club in boot of car’

Prince Harry and Chelsy Davy apparently reunited over the weekend after she jetted back into the UK and they spent the night at a private members’ club. The couple, who split last autumn after five years together, were said to have been smuggled out of exclusive Beaufort House on Chelsea’s King’s Road at 4 am on Sunday in the boot of a Jaguar. The Sun and Mirror newspapers reported that luggage was cleared to the front seat of the chauffeur-driven car before security staff helped Prince Harry, 26, and Chelsy, 25, into the boot. Beaufort House is a favourite with the Chelsea set and was Voted Best Members’ Bar in London by the London Bar and Club Awards 2010. Their night out had sparked speculation that they may get back to together, after ending their relationship last year.
