Saturday Hustle – February 26
February will be remembered for a number of popular singles from various genres rocking the airwaves and the party scene. This week Saturday Hustle plays some of these blazing hot tracks.
Moment For Life – Nicki Minaj featuring Drake
Hardly a moment (pardon the pun) passes these days without Nicki Minaj’s latest single being played. And with the music video’s marriage scene fuelling speculations about a blossoming romance with label mate Drake, we expect to hear it all the more frequently.
I Don’t Deserve You – Lloyd Banks featuring Jeremih
I think I love you, but don’t let me get in the way
Don’t let me stop you girl, from doin’ your thing
‘Cause I don’t deserve you, no
I don’t wanna hurt you, play with your mind, have you running in circles
Don’t let me get in the way…
In the first single on his Hunger For More 2 album, Lloyd Banks explores the theme of a ‘playa’ conceding to his ways and admitting to his spouse that she does indeed deserve better.
Pass Out – Tinie Tempah
This British-Nigerian rapper made the world sit up and take notice with the release of his uptempo debut single from his Disc-Overy album, which debuted at number one last October. The song speaks to the feeling of being “out of it”, the rapper explained in an interview with The Sun.
Pretty Girl Rock – Keri Hilson
Known for penning catchy hit songs and celebrating female sassiness, it is little wonder that Hilson’s latest track, which has a rather interesting video in which she pays homage to other great female singers, is on every young woman’s lips.
Perfect – Pink
Pink displays her no-nonsense attitude and killer vocals on this inspirational song where she urges people to believe in themselves despite whatever failures they may have encountered, or insecurities they possess. And with lyrics like pretty-pretty please, don’t you ever-ever feel like you’re nothing, less than perfect… it’s easy to understand why it has found favour with disc jocks worldwide.
All of A Sudden – Vybz Kartel
Controversy aside, there is no denying that ‘di teacha’ knows how to churn out good music. And there is something about this lovers-rock-type reggae single, which was listed as the ‘hot new track’ on last week’s Heineken World Chart Show. Perhaps it’s his gravelly, passionate rendition of the lyrics “all of a sudden me fall in love wid you”, that makes it such a staple on local charts.
Puff It – I-Octane
The smoking of marijuana is yet to be legalised, but that certainly does not prevent a slew of reggae/dancehall artistes, I-Octane included, from singing its praises or at the very least, puffing it.
