Sandals voted world’s top honeymoon resort in Brides survey
Brides Magazine has named Sandals Resorts International as the top all-inclusive company in its March ‘Best Honeymoons’ issue which is now on news-stands.
The award was based on a survey conducted in conjunction with Signature Travel Network, a group of more than 6,000 top travel agents across North America, Sandals said in a news release.
“We are simply humbled by the result of this survey, which demonstrates the continued success of our luxury included concept,” said Sandals Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart. “Weddings and honeymoons are a core market for our organisation, and this award represents the pinnacle of achievement in the business of romance. It is even more special now because this year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of Sandals. The award could not come at a better time.”
According to Stewart, the award compliments Jamaica’s already highly regarded reputation as a leading destination. “We have to thank all Jamaica for the support and friendship over the years and particularly for the unmatched warmth and hospitality that are shown to every guest,” he said. “We have a tremendous team here, and without them we could not be voted world’s best so consistently. This is testament to each and every one of our employees as well as the community of the Sandals brand. Awards such as these do not happen by accident, and represent a huge team effort, both on and off the resort, and everyone plays their part. Our Weddings Division has done an exceptional job personalising each bride’s experience for close to the three decades that we have been in operation”.
Commenting on the award, Brides editor-in-chief Millie Martini Bratten said, “The wedding is just the beginning of a lifetime of adventures and experiences to be shared. Best Honeymoon Awards reveals the very best, most popular and most romantic retreats around the world, and it’s an honour to start couples off on the right foot, whether it be a terrific splurge or a low-key escape.”
In addition to the top all-inclusive company award, the hotel chain’s newest addition, Sandals Emerald Bay in the Bahamas, was voted the Caribbean’s number one resort for honeymoons, representing an even more impressive accolade as the resort just celebrated its first year anniversary last month.
The other resorts in that category included Caneel Bay in St John; Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, One & Only Ocean Club in Paradise Island; Half Moon, Jamaica; and Cap Juluca in Anguilla.
“We take tremendous pride in the standard of our product and the services that we deliver,” added Stewart. “To be recognised by the number one bridal publication in the world is a true endorsement of the strength of our brand. Honeymooners everywhere want the best — from fabulous suites with butler service to a choice of restaurants and an array of land and water sports. No other resort company on the planet offers more quality inclusions than Sandals Resorts.”
Sandals said that since January 2010 it has been offering Martha Stewart Weddings to all brides and grooms celebrating a destination wedding at any of its luxury included resorts and Beaches Resorts across the Caribbean.
Stewart described the Martha Stewart Weddings programme as “a tremendous partnership that has made a big difference in the quality of the wedding and honeymoon experience”.
