Monymusk upset Village in Flow Cup
LIONEL TOWN, Clarendon — Michael Dixon hit a hat-trick as Monymusk advanced to the last-16 of the Flow Champions Cup after swatting aside understrength Village United 4-1 yesterday at Monymusk SC.
Dixon slotted the hosts into a seventh-minute lead when his attempted cut-back ricochet into his path and he made no mistake from four yards.
The Super Leaguers were all over their Premier League opponents for the remainder of the half and deservedly took a 2-0 lead into the break as Henry Forrest robbed the visiting goalkeeper of the ball and stabbed home on 37 minutes.
Dixon grabbed his second two minutes after the restart, before Andre Nickles gave Village a fighting chance 12 minutes from time. But any hope of a comeback was dashed when Dixon stroked in from the penalty spot late on.
Village captain Cordel Simpson was shown the red card for abusive language at the end of the game.
