Rollington Town first team to advance in primary schools football
ROLLINGTON Town became the first team to qualify for the round of 16 in the 2011 LIME/Institute of Sports (INSPORTS)-sponsored Kingston and St Andrew Primary Schools Football Championship as the competition takes a break for the GSAT Examinations.
With some schools on the verge of only having just about three or less games to complete their respective zones, some are at a very interesting stage at the GSAT break. GSAT Examinations will be held on March 24 and 25.
The competition is scheduled to resume on Tuesday, March 29. Meanwhile, the top two teams from each of the eight zones will advance to the second round.
The Stanford Patrick-coached purple-clad Rollington Town aggregation is the sole leaders in Zone One with 15 points from five consecutive wins. They have also scored the most goals in the zone with 16 for and two against.
The second spot is very close between Shortwood with seven points and Alpha and St Peter Claver with six points each.
Meanwhile, in Zone Two, August Town lead with nine points from three wins with Rousseau and Balcombe Drive both locked in second position with six points each from three games.
Zone Three has St Benedict’s leading with 10 points from four games, ahead of second placed St Patrick’s on nine points, followed by Maxfield, eight, Duhaney Park, seven and Mico on six points. St Benedict’s is the only unbeaten team in the zone.
Tarrant and Balmagie are joint leaders of Zone Four with 10 points each, but the former has played one game more. In third place are Mountain View on seven points.
Central Branch are the sole leaders in Zone Five with 10 points from four games. Jointly in the second position are Denham Town and Half-Way-Tree with seven points each.
