When Whoopi Goldberg took to the stage in 1991 to receive her Academy Award she appeared just like any other Oscar winner – excited and overwhelmed. But the 55-year-old star was actually under the influence as she made her acceptance speech having smoked a ‘wonderful joint’ just minutes before the win. She was accepting the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role alongside Patrick Swayze in the film Ghost. In a 1992 video that has only just surface on celebrity blog TMZ, the actress is seen admitting she was stoned on the day of the ceremony. Whoopi is heard saying: “Smoking cigarettes and pot every now and then are my habits. And I thought, ‘I’ve got to relax.’ So I smoked this wonderful joint that was the last of my home-grown.” Whoopi recently discussed her former drug use on her daytime chat show The View, describing herself as “fully functioning addict.” “I went to work because I knew if I didn’t show up, a lot of people would be out of work and I wouldn’t get a cheque, and I wouldn’t have the lifestyle that I needed to buy all my drugs,” she admitted.The actress has been clean and sober for years.

Kim Kardashian better watch out – because her younger sister Kendall Jenner is hot on her tail in the modelling stakes. The 15-year-old is adding to her expanding portfolio, recently modelling prom dresses for designer Sherri Hill. In one pose, she dons a crystal-encrusted strapless party dress, teamed with skyscraper heels. In another she slips into a one-sleeved dress and in the third she takes a twirl in a white tutu number. Kim took to her blog to gush about the shots, saying: “I can’t believe how stunning Kendall looks in her final shots for Sherri Hill prom dresses! These pictures are so gorgeous!” Kendall is fast establishing herself as a top American teen model. She has already been involved with campaigns for the likes of Forever 21 and Luca Couture and also has a spokesmodel role with Nordstrom.

Goldie Hawn snapped with grandchild on lap behind the wheel of her car

She might be Hollywood royalty – but even Goldie Hawn should have realised it wasn’t the best idea to be snapped behind the wheel of her Range Rover with a toddler on her lap. The 65-year-old star was being visited by her son Oliver Hudson and her daughter-in-law Erinn Bartlett and their two sons, Wilder, three, and year-old Bodhi – who appears to be the child snapped on Goldie’s knee. The child was placed on her lap as another relative took a photo of the pair, before Goldie drove up the drive at her home in Brentwood, Los Angeles. It mirrored Britney Spears’ motoring faux pas when she was snapped in February 2006 driving along with son Sean Preston on her lap rather than strapped safely into a baby car seat.
