‘Junglists’ tame Humble Lion
MAY PEN, Clarendon — Rohan Reid netted a last-minute winner as Arnett Gardens eased their Digicel Premier League relegation fears while making it harder for Humble Lion to stay up following their 1-0 win yesterday at Effortville.
It was Andre Wheeler who did the hard work, gliding across the box before teeing up Reid who drilled in a one-time grass-cutter past Chris Louden.
Arnett, whose Garfield Gillespie was ejected, had earlier gone close with Newton Sterling and Kevin Wilson taking turns at clipping the upright.
But it was their goalkeeper, Damion Hyatt, who masterminded their victory as he expertly denied the hosts, who also had Mark Miller red-carded, on no more than four occasions.
The young shot stopper was deservedly named Fruta Man of the Match and collected $5,000 for his effort.
Undoubtedly, however, it is the reward of helping his team to a victory, which moved them seven points clear of the drop zone that will be dearest to his heart.
The Clarendon side remained in 11th place on 37 points, the same as Benfica who suffered a similar defeat to Sporting Central Academy at Drax Hall.
