Muschett hunt rebound at Herbert Morrison
MONTEGO BAY, St James — MUSCHETT High will this afternoon seek to rebound from Tuesday’s loss to defending champions Cornwall College when they travel to Herbert Morrison in their opening ISSA/Western Conference Under 14 basketball league at the Montego Bay Cricket Club.
Muschett gave up a double-digit first half lead to lose by 12 points to the three-time defending champions as the competition got underway at the Montego Bay Cricket Club.
Muschett led 12-6 after the first quarter and 23-10 at the half-time break but scored just four more points in the second half as Cornwall College took full advantage of the rules that limits time on the court for each player.
According to the rules no player can play three straight quarters and every player included on the team list must play by the third quarter.
Muschett used their best players for the first half then had to bench them for the third quarter and by the time they returned for the fourth quarter, Cornwall was already on a roll after shutting out the Trelawny school in the third quarter.
Rashid Davis led all scorers with 12 points while getting six rebounds and two blocked shots while Errol Campbell scored six points.
Devonte Stewart was the top scorer for Muschett with 10 points while Karlington Barrett scored nine points, had eight rebounds and three blocked shots.
Just three schools are taking part in the Under 14 as well as the girls Open which gets underway today with Herbert Morrison also hosting Muschett.
In each league the teams will play each other three times before the top two advance to the final.
