Not being paid from the public purse
Dear Editor,
There has been a lively discussion in the media regarding fees earned by attorneys appearing in the Manatt/Dudus Commission of Enquiry.
I wish to place on record that I am not being paid from the public purse for appearing at the Manatt/Dudus Commission of Enquiry. The records will show that I represent Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin, former chief of defence staff and former commissioner of police; Major General Stewart Saunders, former chief of defence staff and Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Cole, head of the Legal Department of the Jamaica Defence Force.
My fees for representing these loyal, dedicated and patriotic gentlemen will be met by my clients at an appropriate location at the end of Lent. I served in the Jamaica Defence Force with them and I consider them people I owe a duty to defend.
I trust that the public and you will find this information useful – very useful!
