JRDC — President’s Message
It is incumbent upon me as the President of the Jamaica Race Drivers’ Club (JRDC) to once again extend a warm and friendly welcome to our many avid spectators to the Dover Raceway, to witness and be entertained by the most skilful Jamaican motor racers. To those of you who are coming to Dover for the very first time, I extend a special welcome.
Today’s race programme will feature fifteen of what could well be the most competitive races comprising competent race drivers and motorcyclists, all vying for supremacy as they match skills on our challenging race track.
This event on Easter Monday, April 25, would not be a reality if it were not for the valuable support of our many sponsors, to all of whom I say a sincere thank you. Thank you for continuing to demonstrate interest in the continuance of organised motor racing activities for the enjoyment of our Jamaican sport-minded people.
We do hope that they are happy with their involvement and investments and that their objectives for sponsoring have been met by the Jamaica Race Drivers’ Club. This Jamaica Observer Dover Supplement will give motor racing, our divers and sponsors the much-needed exposure they deserve as our spectators are kept informed through its pages.
Of course, the existence of this sport, over the many years at the Dover Raceway would not have been possible were it not for the dedication of our many competitors who, while enjoying themselves, have in so doing, given of their valuable time and efforts to entertain their supporters. I salute them and encourage them to continue in the same vein, as the club strives to keep the sport alive and move it to the next level.
Similarly, I should commend the executives of the JRDC, the marshalls, journalists and others for their unselfish and dedicated contributions over the many years, as the club seeks to develop the sport of motor racing in Jamaica and the English-speaking Caribbean.
In closing, I say to all those present here today, have a wonderful and enjoyable time. Please drive carefully as you leave for home this evening.
Hilary P Jardene OD, JP
