Northampton dominant in St Bess Division One
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — Northampton clipped Round Hill 1-0 yesterday — their sixth straight win — to put themselves in pole position in the St Elizabeth Co-op Credit Union Division One football competition.
After eight rounds Northampton lead Zone A with 20 points, six more than their nearest rivals Middle Quarters, who whipped bottom-placed Newcombe Valley Police Youth Club 4-0. The win pushed ‘Quarters to 14 points, one more than Round Hill (13).
On Wednesday, Black River Young Strikers (11), who drew 0-0 with Northampton the week before, got their third win, a 3-1 result over bottom-placed Retrieve United (3).
In Zone B Knoxwood, who thrashed bottom-placed Prospect FC, 7-3, in a rescheduled game last Saturday to take over the lead, clipped Rocky Hill 1-0 Tuesday in a top-of-the-table clash at Lacovia Sports complex.
Knoxwood, with just one loss, are on 17 points.
Longwood, yet to taste defeat, are on 14 points followed by Rocky Hill on (13), while Haughton, who were beaten 2-1 by Longwood earlier this week, are on eight points.
New Market are in fifth position with five points and Prospect are at the bottom with three.
