Zoo animals
CECILE Gibson and a group of mostly kids journeyed from Kingston to Lacovia, St Elizabeth last weekend to experience the 158-acre Jamaica Zoo.
What the kids saw were animals they’d probably only seen on television — lions, a llama, zebras, monkeys, racoons, squirrels and a host of others which kept them entertained all day.
The property not only has animals, but also a picnic space, lots of food and a play area for kids.
Here are some highlights from their visit.
DONKEY: Chubbie, the yellow labrador retriever, rides a donkey, while Jamaica Zoo owner Paul Fearon (right) and a handler offer guidance.
SNAKEBOY: This little boy was the bravest of the bunch, and volunteered to hold a snake.
CROC: Jamaica Zoo owner Paul Fearon holds baby crocodile Sof.
BABYIGUANA: Fearless Jamaica Zoo owner Paul Fearon ‘faces’ baby iguana Eggy.
BOY IGUANA: This brave boy has no fear of the iguana, Lizzie.
COCKATOO AND COCKATOO FLY: One of the zoo’s birds, a cockatoo.
ZEBRAS: The zebras.
LLAMA: A llama.
LIONS: The lions St E and Santa, who were born in Santa Cruz, Jamaica.
