Generally, when players are removed from the starting five, their performances dwindle. But this has not been the case for the 33-year-old Terry. Since his relegation to the bench, the ‘Jet’ has emerged as one of the best sixth men in the league and one of the best fourth quarter players as well. While many would believe that the nickname ‘Jet’ is as a result of his notable speed with and without the basketball it originally came about because of his initials.

In no time, he surfaced as a star for the franchise averaging 19.7 points to lead the team in scoring in his second season. he spent five seasons with the franchise before being traded to the Dallas Mavericks. Being removed from the starting line-up has not deterred his contributions as he claimed the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award in 2009 and continues to contribute offensively.
