Straths United lead Westmoreland Division 1
SAVANNA-LA-MAR, Westmoreland — STRATHS United claimed sole leadership in the Westmoreland Football Association Division One moving to 13 points, after Western United failed to show for Tuesday’s scheduled encounter at Bay Road.
Rockhouse Rockers jumped to 10 points following their 2-1 beating of second placed Starlight (12 points) at Blackness, while BASYC earned their first point of the campaign when they were held to a 1-1 draw at home in Belmont by United Strikers (eight points). Western United are on four points.
The competition continues on Friday with Rockhouse hosting BASYC in Negril; United Strikers at home to Western United at Delveland; and Straths entertaining Starlight at Llandilo. Matches start 3:30 pm.
And as the cross-zone Round 3 opened on Monday in the Captain’s Bakery WFA Major League, Chantilly Forever stopped Roaring River 2-0; Extra Flex clipped Negril 2-1; and Race Course ended 1-1 with Petersfield.
The top four go into action today with leaders Sandals Whitehouse (21 points) against Savannah FC (20 points) at Bay Road; Petersfield hosts Mt Grace (20 points); and Race Course face Paul Island (20 points) at Belle Isle. Match time is 3:30 pm.
