ATL Autohaus National Amateur Championship tees off weekend
Jamaica’s top golfers will vie for the title of national amateur champion when they contest the ATL Autohaus and Audi-sponsored high-profile golfing event over the Labour Day weekend.
In this qualifying tournament, Order of Merit points will be awarded to next year’s Trials. In addition, the National Amateur Championship will do double duty as the warm-up tournament before the 2011 National Trials, which are scheduled for June 16-19 in Montego Bay.
Among this year’s list of competitors are past national representatives and trialists Radcliff Knibbs, Sean Morris, Jonathan Newnham, Robert Chin, Maurice Foster, Jodi Barrow and Michele Gabay.
National junior team representatives registered to compete are Tyler Fitt, Danielle Morris and team reserve Justin Lowe.
The 54-hole competition will run over three days at the Caymanas Golf & Country Club in a medal play format. Prizes will be awarded in the men, senior, super senior, female and junior categories.
The launch takes place this Friday at the Constant Spring Golf Club at 5:00 pm and will include a display by Audi.
