Whyte, Lee seek wins at Sao Paulo GP
ROSEMARIE Whyte will seek to win her second straight race in Brazil this morning when she lines up in the Women’s 400 metres at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Whyte, who is coming off a record run at the previous stop in Umberlandia, Brazil on Wednesday, will take on Americans Monica Hargrove and Keshia Baker who both finished behind her four days ago.
The former Jamaica national champion ran 51.47 seconds on Wednesday, well off her season’s best of 51.15 seconds done at the Jamaica National Jamaica International Invitational Meet two weeks ago.
Four Jamaicans are scheduled to take part in the meet, with two-time IAAF World Junior champion Dexter Lee and Kimmari Roach down to run the 100, while former world champion Trecia Smith will take part in the triple jump.
Roach will be hoping to improve his time and place from last Wednesday when he clocked 10.28 seconds to Great Britain’s Dwaine Chambers, 10.13 seconds.
Lee, meanwhile, will be making his first trip to Brazil and will also take part in the 100, along with Trinidadians Keston Bledman and Marc Burns.
Smith fouled on all four of her jumps at the recent Jamaica National JII and will be seeking a better
result today.
