Impressive wins at JAAA All Comers Meet
SCHILLONIE Calvert of Racer’s Track Club ran a personal best 11.13 seconds to win the women’s 100m at Saturday’s JAAA All-Comers Meet Two at the UWI Usain Bolt Track at the University’s Mona campus.
Calvert finished ahead of Christiana Williams and Natasha Morrison of MVP, who both came in at 11.61 seconds with Williams credited with second ahead of Morrison.
National champion Oshane Bailey posted 10.21 seconds to win the men’s equivalent with MVP’s Nicholas Watson second in a time of 10.23, while Sheldon Mitchell of Swept was third in 10.24.
Lansford Spence and Anastasiya Leroy were winners in the men and women’s 200m respectively. Spence posted 20.41 to finish ahead of Rasheed Dwyer of GC Foster in 20.57 and Warren Weir in 20.74.
Leroy won in 23.51 as Audra Segree clocked 23.60 and schoolgirl Kediesha Dallas of Holmwood 24.00 for third.
Tonique Sobah ran 14.05 seconds to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles ahead of school girls Chrisdale McCarthy in 14.11 and Janielle Gordon of Cheetaz Club
in 14.42.
Former Edwin Allen standout Ristananna Tracey continued her long season with victory in the women’s 400m in a personal best and World Championships ‘B’ standard quaifying time of 51.95 seconds with Jenieve Russell of Holmwood second in 53.55 and Venicha Baker of MVP third in 54.73.
Edino Steele won the men’s equivalent, posting 46.09 for victory ahead of Allodin Fothergill in 46.15 and Ricardo Chambers in 46.78.
Samoya Campbell’s time of 2:09.31 was good enough for victory in the women’s 800m, won ahead of Desreen Montaque (2:10.82) and Marleena Eubanks 2:13.14.
Shawn Pitter (1:53.01) claimed the men’s equivalent ahead of Lenford Adams (1:53.94) and Melvin Weller of GC Foster (1:54.19).
Rayon Lawrence posted 4:09.32 to win the men’s 1,500m. Rory Rhoden timed 4:13.91 for second and Tevaugh Thomas 4:16.51 for third.
In the field, Holmwood’s Glenieve Grange cleared the bar at 1.55m to win the women’s high jump, while Christoff Bryan cleared 2.00m to win the men’s equivalent. Ramon Cooper and Darrel Garwood of MVP were second and third respectively, with heights of 1.95m each.
