Assassin scores first #1 this year
TOP-FLIGHT deejay Assassin (also known as Agent Sasco) scored his first number one single of 2011 with Talk How Mi Feel, which hit pole position on the Jamaica Music Countdown charts last week.
“I feel really great because earlier this year my management team and I made a determined effort to put out quality, well-produced singles for the local market, and we have been getting a lot of positive feedback. So it feels good to notch the first number one for the year and we have to thank the fans for their unwavering support as we continue to put in the work. Look out for more hits from Agent Sasco,” he is quoted in a release from his publicist.
The deejay’s Run The Place, released on his own Boardhouse Records label, peaked at number four on the Fiwi Choice Top Ten charts and occupied the number four spot on the ER dancehall charts.
Assassin has also been in high demand for shows overseas, hitting the stage at the recent Best of the Best concert in Miami where he gave a commanding performance.
He also performed in Antigua and St Vincent over the weekend, and is already booked for a June 18 show in Trinidad.
Following on his performance on a club show in England in April, Assassin is scheduled to return to Europe for stints on two major reggae festivals in August, the release said.
He is no longer signed to VP Records, having completed his deal with them after releasing two albums, Gully Sitten and his debut 2005 effort Infiltration.
Now, he is working on an album to be released on his own label later this year.
“I have been working on just doing singles for the first part of the year, but I have a number of exclusive singles for my album which we’re looking to release later this year ideally, but we will see how that goes,” he said.
