Gatorade unleashes stylish Bolt-endorsed new bottle
USAIN Bolt, the world’s fastest man, and leading sports drink Gatorade, have launched a new equity bottle brand campaign right here in Jamaica — the New Gatorade Pack.
This new package from Gatorade not only has a cool and contemporary look as one holds it in one’s hand, but is also the fuel behind Bolt.
This fantastic new bottle from Gatorade is now more affordable at a suggested retail selling price of $100 inclusive of GCT. It should be hitting the local market on today.
Bolt, 24, the triple world record-holder at 100m, 200m and the 4×100 relay, has had several photo and video shoots of him holding and drinking from the new Gatorade bottle.
When asked, what he thought about Gatorade’s new equity bottle, he said: “It’s cool, and easy to handle.”
The Bolt/Gatorade advertisements which include pictures and videos, will use the lines, “Bolt Break Through Milliseconds”; “Give Sweat Give Glory”; “The Track Doesn’t Allow For Second Best” and “When Your Heart Races The Clock Has No Chance”.
Bolt, who also has contracts with Swiss watch-makers Hublot, sport gear manufacturer Puma and telecommunication provider Digicel, said he and Gatorade are heading in the right direction.
“I do realise that Gatorade was a company who was committed to maintaining relationships with the best sport has to offer, and I thought I represented an aspect of that,” said Bolt, who has astonishing world record times of 9.58 and 19.19 seconds for the 100 and 200m, respectively.
Bolt, who is dubbed the greatest sprinter of all time, said he was very excited about the new campaign in Jamaica.
“Jamaica is an important location to any brand, and it is my home, so I am always excited about Jamaica,” said Bolt.
“Any opportunity to showcase Jamaica in a positive way is important to brand Usain and brand Jamaica,” he noted unequivocally.
“Gatorade is an A class organisation and I am pleased. I look forward to strengthening that relationship,” he added.
Bolt, who is in preparation mode to defend his IAAF World Championship title in Daegu, South Korea from August 27 to 4 September, says Gatorade is playing a key role in what is expected to be another tremendous year for him.
“Gatorade represents rehydration, which is key to training, especially in Jamaica’s warm climate,” he noted.
Bolt will be defending the 100, 200 and 4×100 titles and is expected to receive stiff competition from American Tyson Gay, compatriot Asafa Powell, Steve Mullings, Nester Carter and Yohan Blake.
To date, Bolt has run three races, winning the short dash in 9.91 seconds before blasting to a world-leading 19.86 seconds in his pet event, the 200m.
Bolt, who burst onto the scene in 2002 as a 15-year-old, won the 200 in 20.61 at the World Junior Championship held in Kingston, making him the youngest ever gold medallist at the championship .
He later became the first Junior athlete to run the 200 in under 20 seconds with a time of 19.93 seconds. He turned professional in 2004 and to date has six global senior gold medals and two silver medals.
Later this year, this tally is expected to increase, barring injury.
