June 19 saw “the world” marking another Father’s Day where again we saw the vast difference in comparison to Mother’s Day. Some people didn’t even remember because there were no displays left, right and centre to continuously remind us of the special day approaching.

Kudos to the Sunday Observer for the full section that was dedicated to celebrating the responsible fathers. Well done! Most of us focus on the fact that there are so many irresponsible fathers, but fail to realise that there are many responsible ones too. There are fathers who have remained a major part of their children’s lives even if their relationship with their children’s mother is rocky. There are also many fathers who play dual roles.

I salute all the responsible fathers who play their natural roles which should not even be surprising when performed, because just as certain roles are expected of a mother, there are roles that a father should also play as a matter of course. Two people came together to make a baby, and so those two people are expected to continue moulding that toddler into an infant, then a child, a teenager, and eventually a responsible adult.

Happy Belated Father’s Day to all responsible fathers. We need more songs to celebrate your good qualities too.
