Canada’s largest bank, Royal Bank of Canada, has taken the final step to put its stamp on the Jamaica banking landscape on Monday, with the rebranding of RBTT bank Jamaica — the second operations within its Caribbean group to take the name of RBC since it acquired the Trinidadian multinational in June 2008.

RBC Caribbean Banking CEO, Suresh Sookoo, said that rebranding across the region will be completed by next year and will bring to 19 coutnries within the reegion to carry the RBC anme.

The rebranding started in Trinidad and Tobago and will move on to the Eastern Caribbean and Barbados, Curacao and Suriname, where the banking group’s operations will adopt the new RBC brand.

The existing RBC operations in the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos, Eastern Caribbean and Barbados will also move to the updated brand expression to create one RBC in the Caribbean.

At present RBC’s Caribbean operations, including banks that still carry the RBTT brand, offer banking services in 19 countries and territories across the Caribbean with a network of 125 branches, 327 ATMs and close to 7,000 employees serving more than 1.6 million clients.

Jamaica as 17 of those branches islandwide.

RBC Royal Bank (Jamaica) Limited president and country head Minna Israel, who tookover the top position in Jamaica six months before the RBC buyout was finalised, said that the Jamaica operations has been “working assiduously behind the scenes to streamline our business and personal banking platforms to align our processes and structures with those of our parent, to ensure that you our clients, benefit from best-of-class practices as we aim to always being our clients’ first choice.

“And while some of our changes will not be immediately forthcoming, we take this opportunity to remind our clients that we will continue to offer superior service packaged in warmth and familiarity, strengthened by a highly capitalized, healthy and robust leading international financial institution.”
