Washington Business House Five-a-Side kicks off today

THE 16th renewal of the Washington Business House Five-a-Side football competition kicks off today at the Washington Gardens Community Centre, starting at 5:00 pm.

Teams down to participate are Camouflage, Daytona, Heart and NTEI in Group One, while Group Two will consist of Berger Paints, United Church, Wastaki and Patrick City Youth Academy.

In the opening game, Daytona face NTEI, while Camouflage will take on Heart in the other game at 5:50 pm.

The games will be played over two 20-minute halves. The teams in both groups will play each other twice before playing each team from the other group once in a cross-zone fixture.

At the end of the preliminaries, the top two finishers in each group will then advance to the Premier League semi-finals, while the third and fourth place teams in the groups will qualify for the Super League semi-finals.

The winner of each semi-final will move on to the final set for late August.

Meanwhile, defending champion Jamaica Biscuit Company will not participate in this season’s competition, paving the way for three-time winners Berger Paints to possibly cop yet another title.
