Jackson Concert stalemate

Thousands of Michael Jackson fans will descend on the Millennium Stadium for a tribute concert to the star who died two years ago. The singer’s mother Katherine Jackson announced details of the concert during a press conference Monday. She said: “Michael gave his entire life to the world through his love, his music and his devotion to healing the planet. As many members of my family that are available, will be at the concert in Wales on October 8. I am positive that this event will be an event great enough in scale, talent and imagination to form a worthy celebration of Michael’s life. If my son was here today, he would feel the same way, and so I’d like to say thank you very much for helping to keep my son’s legacy alive.”

Jackson’s brother, Jermaine Jackson, tried in vain to mount a tribute concert in Vienna in 2009, but plans were scrapped after he struggled to get big-name acts and the event’s organiser went out of business. Jermaine, Randy and Michael Jackson’s father, Joe, were not present at Monday’s announcement. Instead, Katherine was joined by family members Tito, Jackie, Marlon and La Toya. However, Jermaine and Randy issued a statement explaining exactly why they weren’t supporting the tribute concert. It read: “While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honours our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael’s death. As everyone knows, those proceedings commence September 20th, and this Michael Forever concert takes place in Cardiff, Wales, on October 8th. In light of this, we feel it is inappropriate to be involved with such an ill-timed event and its promoter, Global Live. There will come a time and place for an amazing and deserving tribute to Michael. But we feel that the most important tribute we can give to our brother at this time is to seek justice in his name.”

Kristin Cavallari ‘dumped’?

She was said to be in the midst of planning her dream wedding, but former Hills star Kristin Cavallari has been left broken-hearted after her NFL fiancé Jay Cutler allegedly dumped her. “She got dumped,” a source told People. “She’s absolutely devastated. She can’t believe this is happening.” Kristin had been together with the Chicago Bears quarterback for ten months and the couple were said to be planning a spring wedding. Jay, 28, proposed back in April with a 5.2 carat diamond ring while the couple were on holiday in Mexico. “She was planning her dream wedding, the date was set, the location – everything was set,” the source said. “She’s in shock that the dream wedding she was planning is going to end this way.” Just a week ago, Cavallari took to Twitter to excitedly write about her engagement party. “Thx to all my amazing friends for making my engagement party a blast last night!” she wrote on July 17. The reality show star had apparently been planning to relocate to Chicago during the football season and had been spotted jogging on the beach to get in shape for the upcoming nuptials. Kristin consoled herself with the company of a couple of girlfriends. She was spotted alongside Nicky Hilton and model Alessandra Ambrosio at Los Angeles lounge, The Beverly, where she was seen without her engagement ring. “She was telling friends how they called off the engagement,” a source told the website. Meanwhile, a representative for Kristin had no comment.

Who’s the daddy?

Ex-Fugees singer Lauryn Hill has given birth to a baby boy, it has been reported. The 36-year-old welcomed her sixth child on Saturday, after a “little scare” where the baby was delivered with the umbilical cord around his neck. According to a report on the website Black Celeb Kids, which was quickly picked up by media outlets, mother and baby are now doing fine. Hill “had a little scare because the baby came out the womb with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck,” a source told the website. “All is well now and everyone is happy.” It emerged that the singer was pregnant just two months ago, but her long-time partner and father of her other five children, Rohan Marley, has been confusing fans and the media by hinting that he is not the father. On Monday Marley tweeted: “I’m forwarding all well wishes to Ms Hill on the birth of her new son. I’m sure she’ll appreciate the love being sent to her.” The 39-year-old is the son of Bob Marley and has been in a relationship with Hill for 15 years. But rumours are circulating that he is dating 28-year-old Brazilian model Isabeli Fontana.
