Partying at SPF — Fiction style
Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum and the Jamaica Observer sought ensure that St Ann was the place to be over the Emancipation weekend as the SPF — Summer Playground Fantasy — and they succeeded.
On Saturday, Sophisticated pleasure awaited patrons at the party dubbed Fiction: Beach at Caliente Bar and Grill in Mammee Bay.
The party inspired by the glitz and glamour of Kingston’s Fiction Lounge got underway at approximately 4:30 pm. On the outside it was hard to tell that there was very few patrons inside the venue though as pulsating music blazed from the speaker boxes. Inside, persons feasted on the visual treats and gourmet eats while rocking to the beat of the great dance music provided by DJ Narity and the Miami-based DJ Richie.
The setting of the sun saw patrons filing into and filling the Fiction: Beach venue. By then, most, if not all, were either simply sipping bubbly — Moët & Chandon — Hennessy or ‘wicked’ Appleton rum drink mixes. Fiction directors Stephen Shirley, Gary Matalon, Kevin Bourke, Craig Powell and David Shirley mingled with the beach party crowd. Other notable persons partying on the shores included Sandals Resorts International CEO and Jamaica Observer deputy chairman Adam Stewart and wife Jill, hotelier Ernest Smatt and the lovely Yoni and Lisa Epstein.
A bonfire was soon to be ignited much to the delight of the beach beauties who warm their bodies while some use it as the backdrop for those special Kodak moments.
From inside the music booth DJ Richie and Narity turned up the tempo with the best in soca, hip hop and dancehall music that kept the patrons dancing all night leading on to the early hours of Sunday morning.
Other sponsors of the SPF weekend include The Jewel Dunn’s River, iprint digital Limited, Banana Boat, Linstead Market Jamaica, Hennessy Cognac, Pure Country, Hawaiian Tropic, The Glenlivet, Zippy Couriers and Schick.
