UNITY and positive vibes were all around at the 10th staging of Capleton’s A St Mary Mi Come From at the Grays Inn Sport Complex in Annotto Bay, St Mary on Friday.

The show came to its peak near 3 o’clock on Saturday morning when the ‘fireman’ Capleton invited I-Octane, Teflon and Khago to join him onstage for a ‘wicked’ set — a set convincing enough to erase any doubt that those on stage were musical rivals.

“Khago, Capleton and Teflon uno a mi bredda as mi bun friend,” I-Octane said in- between performances. This statement was not only well reveived by Khago, Capleton and Teflon, but by the thousands inside the Grays Inn Complex who showed their appreciation with the lighting of torches and lighters accompanied with deafening screams. Whilst onstage the foursome performed a combination of their hits such as Nah Sell Out Mi Fren Dem, My Life, Puff It, Some Day, That Day Will Come, More Fire, On A Mission, Cheap and Clean, White T’s and Adidas, and No Rasta Ways. Khago had a few words for those boosting a lyrical war between I-Octane and himself, noting that he should stop and instead promote unity.

At daybreak, the musical inferno blazed uncontrollably when Sizzla Kolanji took centrestage.

Trampling the speaker boxes at the front of the stage Sizzla delivered a tight set. The dancehall artiste dedicated several minutes to the ladies by spitting the lyrics to songs such as, Thank You Mama, Just One of Those Days, and Give Me A Try, all of which had the ladies in the audience in a screaming frenzy. Minutes later he was joined on stage by the ‘Prophet’ Capleton and the two upped the entertainment value of the event with their captivating delivery, as there was more to come

Sizzla and Capleton later shared stage with Munga Honourebel, Bounty Killer and other members of the Alliance and Judgement yard camp, Beenie Man, and Macka Diamond. With no visible strife, and unity in the dancehall industry being the main focus, all the artistes gave their fans a memorable performance.

Earlier in the night, the St Mary Mi Come From crowd also saw spectacular performances from dub poet DYCR, Barrington Levy, Lady G, Fantan Mojah, Hezron, Major Mackerel, Turbulance, Jahvinchi, Duwayne Stephenson, Influential and I-Wayne.

This year, the popular concert boasted quick band changes accompanied by exciting performances which made for an enjoyable event for patrons.

The beneficiaries from the proceeds for this year’s show include the St Mary Infirmary, Port Maria Hospital, Islington High School, Highgate Corner League, Highgate United Football League, St Mary Police Youth Club, Beecham Hill Primary and Infant School, Half Way Tree Primary School and Buff Bay Primary School.
