Kashu completes stateside promotional blitz
RECORDING artiste Kashu recently embarked on a promotional blitz in a few cities stateside.
According to the Human Rights recording artiste, the stint was a successful one. “I gained a lot of exposure and made a lot of new contacts in the process. I even did some promotional performances which have resulted in booked performances,” an excited Kashu revealed.
The promotional stint saw him making stops in areas including Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey.
Said Kashu: “I have been on a few promotional stints in America before but this one to me is one of the best. I did a lot of work and I also got the opportunity to record songs for various producers as well.”
Kashu’s latest songs include Mi Armor and Orders.
Katy Perry extends shelf life of Teenage Dreams
The promotional machine at Katy Perry’s record label Capitol/EMI continues to milk the singer’s current album Teenage Dream for all its worth.
The album has yielded its fifth number one single on the Billboard Hot 100.
Last Friday Night (TGIF) removes Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett and Goonrock from the top of the chart.
Perry has become the first female artiste in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 to earn five number one singles from one album. She has tied the record set by Michael Jackson, whose 1987 album Bad reigned with five number one singles.
Jackson’s number one singles from the Bad disc were I Just Can’t Stop Loving You, Bad, The Way You Make Me Feel, Man in the Mirror and Dirty Diana.
Incidentally, it was a year ago that Perry’s Teenage Dream album was released. The album’s previous number one singles include California Gurls featuring Snoop Dogg, Firework ET featuring Kanye West and the title track.
Nero takes the top spot in the UK
Electronic music duo Nero captures the top spot on the UK Singles chart this week. The duo’s fourth single Promises has become its first chart-topping single.
Nero had hit the UK chart twice before. In April the duo peaked at number 15 with Me and You. The single Guilt later peaked at number eight.
Over on the UK album chart, Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black continues to lead the pack.
Chart Updates
As was predicted Watch the Throne the collaborative album from Jay Z and Kanye West, debuted in the number one spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart. This marks the 12th number one album for Jay Z and the fifth for West. Watch the Throne moved over 436,000 copies in its opening week. The set is expected to hang on to the top for another week.
Jamaica: Island in the Sun the various artistes’ compilation, featuring music from ska, rocksteady and reggae artistes, continues to lead the top of Billboard’s Reggae album chart. At number two is Love and Affection by Hawaiian reggae band The Green.
Britney Spears collects another chart-topping single on Billboard’s Dance Music Club Play chart. I Wanna Go sits at the top, however there is some major competition from Beyoncé’s Best Thing I Never Had which charges into the number three spot.
