Henlon to get preparation as umpire for PanAm Club Championship
Hockey umpire Duvaughn Henlon will leave the island today to officiate in his inaugural international competition at the Banks Hockey Festival in Barbados from August 21-27.
The oldest active tournament of the sport in the region, attracting teams from the Caribbean, Europe, and the Americas, the Banks Hockey Festival will be the launching pad for Henlon’s international umpiring career.
The Jamaica Hockey Federation (JHF) hopes this is the start of a successful journey for Henlon, who will also use the tournament as preparation for the Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF) Club Championships which Jamaica will host in November this year.
Representing Jamaica at the junior and senior levels, Henlon captains Munro College Old Boys Hockey Club.
This year he led University of Technology to the Intercollegiate title.
The JHF hopes that Henlon will be as accomplished as an umpire as he was as a player for Munro College in school hockey.
