Street Side, Little Brazil for Plummer League final
MAY PEN, Clarendon — Little Brazil advanced to the final of the Central Clarendon/INSPORTS/Lloyd Plummer Memorial Summer League after twice coming from behind to beat Bushy Park 5-3 on penalties at West Park on Thursday.
Jeffery Baker slotted Bushy Park into a 14th-minute lead, before Brazil’s Andre Allen levelled the scores going into the half-time break.
Dwayne Dunk restored Bushy Park’s lead on 53 minutes, but late drama was to unfold as Odane Brown popped up with an 87th-minute equaliser to force extra-time.
Neither team was able to find a winner in extra-time, as Brazil went on to seal their place in the final by scoring all of their spot kicks, while Bushy Park missed two.
The victory now sets up a tantalising championship decider between the competition’s two unbeaten teams today at the same venue, starting at 3:00 pm.
The championship team will take home $60,000, while the runners-up will receive a $25,000 consolation prize.
