Inside Kim K’s lavish wedding: Pippa-inspired bridesmaids

THREE wedding dresses and a mother of the bride threatening to upstage her daughter

Kim Kardashian said ‘I do’ to her basketballer fiancé Kris Humphries in a beautiful sunset ceremony attended by her A-list friends on Saturday. The couple tied the knot at 6.30 am in a 30-minute service watched by their families, and celebrity guests including Ryan Seacrest, Lindsay Lohan, Eva Longoria, Mel B, Venus and Serena Williams, Avril Lavigne and Demi Lovato.

Kim’s spokesperson revealed the bride wore an ivory custom-designed strapless Vera Wang gown with full tulle skirt, basque waist and handpieced Chantilly lace appliqué on the bodice and ‘epic’ train. While E! — the network behind the Kardashians’ reality shows — reported that the bride wore her hair up and off her face. Her veil remained off her face for the walk down the aisle with stepfather Bruce Jenner, and included a jewelled headpiece with diamonds that “dripped on to Kim’s forehead,” according E! Online. She wore Guiseppe Zanotti shoes, and exchanged wedding rings with Kris designed by her good friend Lorraine Schwartz, who also designed her stunning engagement ring. And it appears that Kardashian looked to the biggest wedding of the year — William and Kate’s — for inspiration for her bridal party who wore ivory gowns described by E! as: “very Pippa (Middleton)”. And it looks as though her mother Kris Jenner, 55, may have made an effort to upstage the bride in her own Vera Wang-designed dress. Kris, 26, wore a white peak lapel tuxedo jacket, black tuxedo pants with white shirt and white bow tie by Ermenegildo Zegna.

The order of service included an emotional tribute to Kris Humphries’ late grandparents and Kim’s late father Robert Kardashian.

Following the ceremony, the bride changed into a second Vera Wang mermaid gown with more Chantilly lace on the bodice and hand-cut organza petals on the skirt, with the reality star expected to change into a third creation. Soul singer Robin Thicke introduced ‘Mr and Mrs Humphries’ and sang his song Angels for the couple’s first dance as husband and wife, then Let’s Stay Together, ahead of the wedding breakfast which was made by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck.

Dripping with gold!

If you’ve got it, flaunt it — and Donald Trump certainly did that recently by releasing a video tour of his amazing US$100-million Boeing 757. Presented by Amanda Miller, who appeared on his hit reality show T h e Apprentice, the video gives a three-minute glimpse into this presidential suite on wings.

Decked out in the Donald’s trademark black and gold livery, the plane is a shrine to decadence. It’s double the size of the property tycoon’s previous Boeing 727 and every detail has been attended to. The plane is a riot of 24 carat gold, from the sink and faucets in the master bathroom right down to the seat belts. The bathroom features a circular shower, and pillows and cushions throughout are embossed with the Trump family crest. Trump’s master bedroom is dressed in cream with gold accents.

The television room features a 52-inch flat screen TV and a control box that has a button that instantly gives him access to over a thousand of his favourite movies. The jet was bought for US$100 million from Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen in February. The new Trump 757 has room for up to 230 passengers, 80 more than its ageing 727 predecessor. Trump’s 727 has been on sale for US$8 million since 2009. But the property mogul seems unfazed by the lack of a buyer. Never one to do things by half, he has said he may keep the old plane as a spare.

Who’s the guy?

Her ex, Prince Harry, is single again having split up with underwear model Florence Brudenell-Bruce after only two months. But if he was hoping to rekindle his on-again, off-again relationship with Chelsy Davy, he may be in for a nasty shock. Davy was spotted leaving South Kensington club Boujis in a cab with a mystery beau recently.

Earlier this year Harry and Chelsy split up yet again after briefly rekindling their on-again, off-again, seven-year romance. Chelsy was even Harry’s date to the Royal Wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton. Let’s hope that if it heats up between Chelsy and her new guy, that things between the estranged exes run a bit more smoothly than they did while Harry was dating Florence. Chelsy was said to be less than thrilled at Harry’s choice, given that the underwear model was in the same house as her at Stowe School in Buckinghamshire.

A source said at the time: “There are crossovers with Chelsy and Florence’s friendship circles, which can make things awkward.” Chelsy has always been resolute in her determination to live an independent life, and not commit herself to a lifetime of service as a member of the royal household. Let’s hope the 25-year-old Zimbabwean has more luck with her new romance.
