Sugar and Spice to open new bakery in Constant Spring
Businessman David Chang will soon open his fifth Sugar and Spice bakery outlet in Kingston.
The outlet will be located in a 2,500 square-foot building on Constant Spring Road, in the same complex which houses the Fresh Approach Supermarket owned by Winston Lee.
Renovation work is now being conducted in the soon-to-be-bakery.
A Sugar and Spice senior employee told the Business Observer yesterday that the new outlet will open “within the next two months”. The staff member, who wished to remain anonymous because he is not authorised to speak to the media, said that the company made a strategic decision to open at the proposed location in order to benefit from the heavy consumer traffic typically in that area.
Chang is the brother of Tastee owner Vincent Chang and Pete’s Restaurant owner Petius Chang. He founded Sugar and Spice in 1971.
While it is known to be a major outlet for Tastee patties, the bakery is also popular for its variety of cakes and pastries.
The four existing outlets are on Red Hills Road, Old Hope Road, the corner of Red Hills and Eastwood Park roads, and in Manor Park.
