Digicel takes BMW X1 to Jamaica
TWO lucky Digicel customers, come September 9, will each receive a brand new BMW X1 motorcar in the cell company’s current ‘Summer to Di Worl’ competition.
BMW X1 you might ask. People quite likely are fully aware of the X5 or X6 models or the 3 series and 5 series, yes.
Actually, the BMW 1 series is new from the German automaker, with variants up to the M1.
Auto this week had a full introduction to the X1, a compact hatchback available in either three or five door models.
“It is the same size as the MINI Countryman,” says Kim Bernard marketing executive at Stewart Motors, local representatives for both BMW and MINI.
The Digicel winners will drive away with a fully loaded model of the X1 including a navigation system powered by the University of the West Indies’ GPS software.
“Based on our customers’ feedback, they want to be rewarded with cash, vacation getaways, aspirational vehicles or they want a house,” Aileen Corrigan acting head of marketing at Digicel shared.
She said that having partnered with Stewart Motors in the past with the Mega MINI promotion, which was very successful, Digicel felt the X1 was a fitting prize for customers, “while highlighting support of our Ambassadors at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu — Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.”
Features of this the latest addition to the BMW family include rear parking distance control, rain sensor, hill descent control, alarm system, leather steering wheel and the trademark run-flat tyres.
“If you get a puncture in MoBay you could drive to Kingston to fix it,” a Stewart Motors representative commented.
Priced at $5.5 million, Stewart Motors offer a five-year/100,000 km BMW service and repair warranty on an X1 purchase.
