Thanking God for His grace and mercies
Dear Editor,
There can be nothing more joyful than to come to the acknowledgement of Jesus Christ and His purpose. Yes, His main purpose is to seek and to save that which was lost. But it is everyone’s decision to accept Him as their personal Lord and Saviour of their lives, having gained knowledge of whom He is.
This can be one of the most glorious experiences one can ever have; for when Christ does come into your life, there begins a shift from that old Adamic sinful nature, to the divine nature of Christ.
We are no longer of that old man which is carnal, but of the new man which is in Christ Jesus, created by God in Him, in righteousness and true holiness, whereby we now live the new way in Jesus Christ. For when we were without Christ, we were children of the flesh, living after the manner of the flesh, fulfilling the desires there such as lying, stealing, murder, fornication, adultery, envying, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strife, sedition, heresy, drunkenness, revelling, uncleanness, lasciviousness, variance, emulations, etc.
These are the works of the flesh as mentioned in Galatians 5:19-21; and they place us in the lowest form, wherein we are become like unto nobody. That is where sin puts us.
The word of God tells us that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). For this reason, God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8).
Having accepted Jesus Christ, we are no longer children of the flesh, but are now children of the Spirit. As born-again believers in Christ, we have become children of God. We have been born by the Spirit of God into a new way.
If we then are born of the Spirit, then we become of the Spirit, wherein we live and walk in the Spirit. If we live and walk in the Spirit, then the flesh will have no more dominion over us so that we may fulfil our desires and lust.
Being in the Spirit, we will adapt the principle of the Spirit, which is the word of God; and through the word of God we will be taught how to live the new way in Christ, by the help of the precious Holy Spirit who resides in us.
Through Jesus Christ we can live that abundant life that He promised, having that blessed hope and assurance at the end, unto life eternal. He gave us His everlasting, unconditional love, His enduring peace, His unspeakable joy, His goodness.
I thank Him for His grace and mercies every day. He has filled us with all His fulness. Surely, He has beautified the meek with salvation. He took us from the low and made us to sit with kings, priests and rulers.
The word of God declares, “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that they should shew forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy” (1 Peter 2:9-10).
We are a new creation in Jesus Christ, where old things are passed away, and, behold, all things become new. In Christ Jesus we are now the people of God.
May His presence saturate us; may His power clothe us and keep us; May His word richly dwell in us; and His goodwill be performed in us and through us always, even to the glory of God, Amen.
