St Ann oppose Hanover at Elgin Town
REIGNING champions St Ann CA are scheduled to oppose Hanover CA in Zone A action today at Elgin Town in the third round of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) All-Island Limited-Overs competition.
After winning in the opening round, St Ann had a day off last week and will start favourites to grab their second victory of the season against a struggling Hanover team in the 50-overs per side clash.
Last week the Hanover team was easily beaten by Trelawny, while their opening game against neighbours Westmoreland ended in a no result after rain curtailed proceedings.
The other Zone A team, Westmoreland, will be idle.
In Zone B, GC Foster College host St Elizabeth Cricket Association at the institution’s multi-purpose complex in Spanish Town, while derby rivals St Catherine CA and St Catherine CC will square off at the Prison Oval venue. Clarendon will have the day off.
At the Up Park Camp, the Jamaica Defence Force are scheduled to entertain Zone C leaders Kingston Cricket Club. Also in Zone C, St Thomas welcome the Police Sports Club to the Goodyear Oval. St Mary Cricket Association will be inactive.
In the lone Zone D clash, Kingston & St Andrew Cricket Association host Boys’ Town at the Maxfield Park playfield. The two favourites — Melbourne CC and Kensington CC — will remain idle.
All matches are scheduled to start at 9:30 am.
Lucas, Manchester, St James and Portland have all withdrawn after the financially strained JCA announced just before the start of the competition that clubs and parishes will be forced to stand some expenses, including the cost of travelling.
With just 18 teams participating in the competition, Zones B and C have five participants, while A and D were trimmed to four.
